2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Kicks Off Tonight, the 10th edition of the Confederation’s premier club competition has been reformatted and will be contested by 16 clubs in an exclusively knockout format that demands the highest level of performance

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) reminds media that the 2018 edition of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League will kick off this evening and continue through April.  It features the newly introduced, action-packed, home-and-away knockout format.

The competition starts with Round of 16 play in Central America as CS Herediano (CRC) hosts Tigres UANL (MEX) at 8:00 PM ET.  Later (10:00 PM ET), 2017 Canadian Championship and MLS Cup champion Toronto FC (CAN) will visit fellow MLS side Colorado Rapids (USA). These pairings are the first of eight scheduled for this week as games are disputed throughout the entire Confederation.

Tomorrow, seven-time CONCACAF champion Club America (MEX) will visit Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) in San Jose, Costa Rica (8:00 PM ET), while Tauro FC (PAN) will entertain FC Dallas (USA) simultaneously in Panama. To close out the evening, FC Motagua (HON) will square off against Club Tijuana (MEX) at 10:00 PM ET, in Edinburg, TX, USA.

First-leg matches will conclude Thursday, with the 2017 Scotiabank CONCACAF League champion CD Olimpia (HON) hosting the New York Red Bulls (USA) in San Jose, Costa Rica; Santa Tecla FC (SLV) hosting Seattle Sounders FC (USA) and Cibao FC (DOM) welcoming Mexico’s CD Guadalajara (MEX) in the first-ever Champions League match in the Dominican Republic.

Due to the political and social situation that has impacted Honduras in recent months, games scheduled to be played there have been moved to other countries.

The decisive second-leg, Round of 16 encounters will be played February 27 – March 1, beginning on Tuesday at 8:00 PM ET with Toronto FC (CAN) vs. Colorado Rapids (USA) and Tigres UANL (MEX) vs. CS Herediano (CRC), followed by Club Tijuana (MEX) vs. FC Motagua (HON) at 10:00 PM ET.

Play will continue Wednesday night with FC Dallas (USA) vs. Tauro FC (PAN) and CD Guadalajara (MEX) vs. Cibao FC (DOM) at 8:00 PM ET, and Club America (MEX) vs. Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) at 10:00 PM ET. The last two matches of the phase will see the New York Red Bulls (USA) taking on visiting CD Olimpia (HON) at 8:00 PM ET and Santa Tecla FC (SLV) visiting Seattle Sounders FC (USA) at 10:00 PM ET.

All Round of 16 matches will be broadcast by Univision Deportes on UDN and its digital platforms; Fox Sports Latam and rights partners across the Confederation. For more information, please check your local TV listing.

The range of dates for quarterfinal, first-leg games is March 6-8, while second-leg play is scheduled for March 13-15. The semifinals and final – all home-and-away, as well – are set for April.

The winner of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League will represent the region in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
