Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward both returned to the court after injuries derailed them last season. Hayward did not even make it out of the first quarter of the first game last year, but he returned to score 10 points with five rebounds and four steals.
Celtics claimed an early edge as the Eastern Conference favourites with this victory.
The NBA’s opening night has been one of the most anticipated dates this year, and it did not disappoint at all. The Boston Celtics came into this game as the highly anticipated heir apparent to the Eastern Conference and lived up to the hype, dispatching their division rival Philadelphia 76ers, 105-87.
The game was a rekindling of a fierce playoff rivalry from last season that produced five hotly contested matches, with the Celtics winning 4-1.
