LAFC TO FACE COLORADO RAPIDS IN ROUND ONE OF 2025 CONCACAF CHAMPIONS CUP

LAFC to host second leg of home-and-away series in February

LAFC will kick off its appearance in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup with a road match against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the first leg of the home-and-away Round One series in February. LAFC will host the second leg at BMO Stadium.

Concacaf is expected to announce the schedule in the coming days to confirm the official match dates and kickoff times. The winner of the series between LAFC and Colorado, based on aggregate scoring, will advance to the Round of 16 to play the Columbus Crew.

Ranked fourth in the Concacaf Club Ranking Index, the Black & Gold earned its third ever qualification to the 60th edition of the Champions Cup by advancing to the Leagues Cup 2024 Final. LAFC advanced to the Final of the 2020 and 2023 Concacaf Champions League Tournament, finishing as the runner-up both times.

COMPETITION FORMAT

The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup will continue to be played in a direct elimination knockout stage format, including five rounds and 27 clubs. The first four rounds, Round One, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals, all include home and away play, while the Final, where the region’s Champion is crowned, is played as a single-leg match on a weekend date.

Of the 27 clubs participating, 22 will begin play in Round One, and five will receive a bye to the Round of 16. The clubs’ qualification process was divided by region – North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Further details on how each club has qualified are available below.

COMPETITION DATES

The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup will start with Round One. These eleven home-and-away series will be played in February, followed by the Round of 16 in March, the Quarterfinals and semifinals in April, and the single-leg Final on Sunday, June 1.
