Denmark booked their place in the World Cup qualifying play‑off final with a commanding 4–0 victory over North Macedonia at Parken Stadium on Thursday.  After a tightly contested first half that ended goalless, the Danes broke the deadlock early in the second period when Mikkel Damsgaard capitalised on a loose ball to finish from close range (49’). Denmark’s momentum grew, and Gustav Isaksen doubled the lead with a well-placed finish from a Damsgaard cross (58’) before quickly adding a second of his own from a rebound (59’).

The hosts put the result beyond doubt when Christian Nørgaard powered home a Christian Eriksen corner to make it 4–0 (75’), completing a dominant evening for the home side.

North Macedonia started the match impressively, showing organization, discipline, and even moments of attacking promise in the first half. For a team facing a stronger opponent, it looked like they could pull off a historic result.

But suddenly, everything unraveled after the break. Quick goals, defensive mistakes, and a drop in focus caused the team to lose shape and confidence. The collapse was dramatic, turning a promising performance into a heavy defeat. It wasn’t a question of ability — the players had shown they could compete — but under intense pressure, fatigue, and lack of experience, Denmark exploited every gap ruthlessly.

Denmark controlled possession throughout and were far sharper in the final third after the break, leaving North Macedonia unable to stem the tide despite a disciplined defensive effort early on. The victory sets up a play-off final showdown with the Czech Republic on 31 March 2026, as Denmark looks to secure a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Christian Norgaard were also on target as Denmark pulled away in the second half having been held scoreless in the opening period, and they now head to the final seeking a third successive World Cup qualification.
