NYCFC three starters will play at FIFA

New York City FC three starters Ronald Matarrita, Mix Diskerud and Khiry Shelton will play on international duty, not so much happy for head coach Patrick Vieira.

During Thursday’s press conference sources told a little bit disappointing that three regulars have to play during international week. That is the way it is and we have to deal with it but I think the best option would be for the teams to not have their best players go to international duty and play the game but of course international is international and we can’t change that so maybe the best option is to stop the three games and just go into internationals.

NYCFC is not only one team who missing players this Saturday, while each team is losing regulars players due international duty.  According to NYCFC will have to play during four FIFA windows this season, a task Vieira said his squad is deep enough to handle.

“We had a good week of training with players fighting for spots in the starting eleven,” Vieira said. Might Kwadwo Poku fit in the starters for selection giving Vieira’s options, never know.

Jefferson Mena continued another week of training with the New York City FC squad and is available for selection.  The Colombian centerback sprained his ankle early preseason but returned to training last week.

Mena could play on the left in a back three or as a centerback in a back four, there is injured Frank Lampard, who is postponing games.

So far New York City dropped four points from first two matches at Yankee Stadium, compare last season dropped 25 points in home matches it was second-worst in MLS.

NYCFC after good week training, coach said, rest are well focusedas specially from last game first minute goal was without concentrating, but “We all learned the lesson, and we expecting great match tomorrow.”

Next match March, 26 Saturday 3:00 p.m. Yankee Stadium.
