Chicago Fire continue Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup
|The Chicago Fire (5-7-4, 19 points) travel to take on Atlanta United (10-3-3, 33 points) in the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga. on Wednesday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be available via live web stream on Chicago-Fire.com.
In addition to its four trophies raised in the historic tournament in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006, the Fire have appeared in 12 tournament semifinals, including five in the last seven years. The Fire own an all-time U.S. Open Cup record of 42-14-7.
Three days later the Fire return to MLS action against Seattle Sounders FC (3-8-2, 11 points) at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash. on Saturday, June 23 at 9 p.m. CT (ESPN+/Univision Deportes Chicago 1200AM). Coverage begins at 8:45 p.m. CT with a live pregame show on ESPN+ presented by CIBC.

CHICAGO FIRE at ATLANTA UNITED
The Fire have played one previous Open Cup match in Atlanta. The Fire defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks 3-1 in the quarterfinal round on July 9, 2014.
Fire midfielder Daniel Johnson hails from Duluth, Ga., an Atlanta suburb. Though he spent 2009-2012 with the West Ham Academy, Johnson represented Greater Atlanta Christian School and Georgia United when he returned to the United States.
Atlanta United’s Alec Kann and Jeff Larentowicz represented the Fire for the 2013-2015 seasons.
Atlanta’s goalkeeper coach Aron Hyde served in the same capacity with the Fire from 2009-2015.
Now serving as Atlanta’s vice president and technical director, Carlos Bocanegra began his professional playing career with the Fire. From 2000-2003, Bocanegra scored five goals and added eight assists in 87 regular season matches.
CHICAGO FIRE at SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC
The Fire hold a 2-7-3 all-time regular season record against Seattle, including a 0-4-1 record in matches played on the road.
Sounders midfielder Harry Shipp spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a member of the Fire. The former Fire Academy product scored ten goals and tallied 14 assists in 66 league matches before departing prior to the start of the 2016 season.
USL LOAN WATCH
Rookie forward Jon Bakero started and played 67 minutes for the Tulsa Roughnecks on June 16 as The Fire’s USL affiliate fell 3-0 on the road to Phoenix Rising FC.
The Roughnecks next travel to face Orange County SC on June 23.
