FIFA World Cup — Argentina had to rely on some Lionel Messi magic to defeat Mexico in the final game of the day, with the PSG superstar scoring a wonderful effort from outside the box. Poland are currently top of that group after beating Saudi Arabia.
Argentina have arrived! Two moments of magic from Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez have secured them a crucial win over Mexico.
GOALS
Messi played over the top in second half, struggling to break down Mexico’s 5-3-2 low broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a strike from outside the box for Argentina 1-0 score.
Another strike from Argentina #24 Enzo Fernandez, his first goal on the international stage. It was a bullet of a shot from his foot right over Ochoa and into the net. That’s surely game over as we enter six minutes of added time.
Good Pass
Fernandez picks up a pass from Messi, throws out a stepover and fires the ball into the top corner. Ochoa had no chance, a brilliant effort from Fernandez.
They still need to beat Poland to make sure of a place in the last 16, but this was a much-needed win for Argentina.
France have become the first team to secure a place in the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup after defeating Denmark.
