Chicago Fire Renews USL Affiliation with Tulsa Roughnecks FC

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Friday that the club has renewed its USL affiliate partnership with Tulsa Roughnecks FC for the 2018 season.

“We are pleased to retain our affiliation with Tulsa Roughnecks FC,” said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. “After a mutually productive season in 2017, we intend to grow our relationship this year.”

Per the partnership, the Fire will send players on loan to Tulsa with an option to recall those players at any point during the loan.

In 2017, six Fire players spent time with the Roughnecks and combined for a total of 82 games, 5,974 minutes and ten goals while on loan.

Additionally, the Fire signed Jorge Corrales from the Roughnecks on Sept. 14, 2017. The Cuban defender is the first player to join the Men in Red as a result of the affiliation.

Led by head coach David Vaudreuil, a former Fire defender who appeared in 26 regular season games for the Men in Red during the 2001 and 2002 seasons, the Roughnecks enter its fourth season of USL play in 2018.
