Chicago Fire Return to MLS Action on March 31

The Chicago Fire (0-2-0, 0 points) return to MLS action when they host the Portland Timbers (0-2-0, 0 points) at Toyota Park on March 31 at 5 p.m. CT (MLS Live/Univision Chicago 1200AM).

Prior to traveling to Chicago, the Timbers will face FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas on March 24.

March 31 will serve as a doubleheader with National Women’s Soccer League side Chicago Red Stars, with the Red Stars kicking off against the Portland Thorns at 7:15 p.m.

 

NEMANJA NIKOLIC CALLED IN FOR HUNGARIAN INTERNATIONAL DUTY
Chicago Fire forward Nemanja Nikolic has been called in to the Hungarian National Team for a pair of international friendlies. The reigning MLS Golden Boot winner and Hungary host Kazakhstan on Friday, March 23 and Scotland on Tuesday, March 27, with both matches taking place at the Groupama Aréna in Budapest.

Nikolic made his international debut for Hungary in a 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against the Netherlands on Oct. 11. 2013.  He scored his first international goal three days later in a 2-0 qualifying win over Andorra. Nikolic has since scored five goals in 25 appearances for his side.


MATT POLSTER INJURY UPDATE
Chicago Fire defender Matt Polster suffered a Grade 2 right Medial Collateral Ligament sprain during training on March 16. His expected recovery time is approximately five to six weeks.
