Concacaf Champions Cup | “Champions Battle”
|New York (Tuesday, February 6, 2024) – Ahead of tonight’s inaugural matches for the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup, Concacaf has released the competition’s new official anthem. Named “Champions Battle,” the anthem was produced by a renowned composer and keyboard player for the Rolling Stones, Matt Clifford, and was published by Warner Chappell Music (WCM).
The Concacaf Champions Cup is the region’s premier men’s club competition. The annual tournament, comprised of five rounds and twenty-seven of the best clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, crowns the Confederation’s club champion and is the sole qualification route for the region’s clubs to the new and expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
The 59th edition kicks off tonight with two exciting Round One matches in Central America. Comunicaciones of Guatemala will host Mexican heavyweights Monterrey, followed by the region’s highest-ranked club and seven-time winners, Club America of Mexico, visiting Real Esteli in Nicaragua. Inspired by the brand essence of “Epic Battles for Greatness,” the anthem represents the different genres from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. When merged, it unites our diverse cultures, nations, and territories and promises to elevate the competition’s experience to inspire players and fans to unparalleled heights.
Matt Clifford, known for his long-standing collaboration with the Rolling Stones since 1989, brings a wealth of musical expertise to this project. With prior work for various globally known sports organizations, Clifford’s composition prowess is set to captivate fans and resonate with the spirit of competition that defines the Concacaf Champions Cup.

“This expanded and re-branded Concacaf Champions Cup will elevate club football in our region to new heights and increase the relevance of our clubs and leagues on the global stage. A total of 27 clubs will compete to be crowned as the regional champion, and to earn the right to represent Concacaf at the FIFA Club World Cup. With 30 different clubs having won this title in its 62-year history, we know it will be extremely competitive on the pitch and it is that heritage and competitiveness that has inspired our new anthem, the Champions Battle,” said Concacaf President and FIFA Vice President, Victor Montagliani. “The matches begin this week and I believe the fans will enjoy some great rivalries which will be complemented by a bold and innovative new brand and this dramatic new anthem,” added Montagliani.
