Cosmos signed Mkosana
|NEW YORK (Sept. 2, 2015) – The New York Cosmos announced today that the team has signed forward Lucky Mkosana to a multi-year contract extension. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mkosana, 27, joined the team in November 2014 and so far in 2015 has scored five goals in 19 league appearances for the Cosmos. Mkosana also scored twice in the Cosmos’ 4-1 win over the Cuba national team on June 2, 2015, when the Cosmos became the first U.S. professional sports team to play in Havana in over 16 years.
“I’m delighted to have agreed on a new contract with the club,” said Mkosana. “I love it here, we play with an attacking mindset and I feel that I’ve really developed my game.”
Prior to the Cosmos, Mkosana spent two seasons with the Tampa Bay Rowdies. After joining the Rowdies in September 2013, the Zimbabwe native scored four goals in 34 appearances for Tampa Bay.
“Lucky has been a tremendous addition to the team,” Cosmos head coach and sporting director Giovanni Savarese said. “Working with him daily you can see how far he’s come and the progress he’s made. He’s added a real spark to offense this season and has done everything we’ve asked of him.”
