Cosmos to Enter 2017 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup

The New York Cosmos will travel to Exeter Township Senior High School in Reading, Pa. to face Reading United AC on Wednesday, May 17th at 7:30 pm, as they enter the Second Round of the Lamar Hunt US Soccer Cup.

“The US Open Cup is a competition we always look forward to play,” said Cosmos Head Coach and Sporting Director, Giovanni Savarese.

Reading United defeated Clarkstown SC Eagles Wednesday night 1-0, with a goal from Haitian center forward, Frantzdy Pierrot.

The Cosmos defeated Jersey Express in the Third Round of the tournament last year, before securing a win against MLS side, NYCFC, for a second straight year. New York eventually fell 3-2 to the New England Revolution in the Fifth Round.

The winner of the May 17th matchup between the Cosmos and Reading will advance to the Third Round of the USOC, and will face Major League Soccer competition.
