Defender Kyle McTurk joins the first team of NY Cosmos

The New York Cosmos announced  the signing of Cosmos B player, defender Kyle Andrew McTurk, was born June 29, 1990 in Mineola, N.Y.

“Kyle has proven himself in training sessions with the first team,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese. “We are committed to providing a pathway for players that are developing in our club and we’re pleased to add him to the squad as we push for another successful season.” McTurk, a 26-year-old Long Island native, was a standout defender for Stony Brook University, making 71 appearances and 63 starts in four years.

He joined Cosmos B for the reserve side’s 2016 National Premier Soccer League Season, starting 11 matches at right back. McTurk debuted for the first team in its Las Vegas friendly against SD Eibar on May 25 of this year, replacing Yasmani Duk in the 82nd minute of the match.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” commented McTurk. “I’m focused on working hard
and contributing to the team any way I can,” he added.
The Cosmos face Indy Eleven on Wednesday, August 31 at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. Kickoff is
set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
