First Model will walk to NYFW with Down Syndrome
Madeline Stuart, an 18-year-old Australian model with Down syndrome.
Back again to Australian model, she would be the first viral model to walk with Down Syndrome at the NYFW. Stuart and her mom Rosanne have been fielding international modeling requests. Most recently, Stuart signed to walk in New York Fashion Week with MODA in association with the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
She has also been working with handbag company Ever-Maya and will be the face of a new line of handbags all named after her! launching Friday. Rosanne spoke to many sources about how her daughter’s modeling is changing people’s perceptions about intellectual disabilities and what Madeline’s impact on the world will be.
Her mother expressed her feelings about Maddy’s been a model, “She is happy I am double happy for her” The world wants to be inclusive, it just hasn’t had anyone on such a platform that they were able to do it easily. We were doing a shoot yesterday in Central Park, and three girls from Australia came up and got pictures with Maddy. We went down to Muscle Beach in California and as we were going to get photos with two big muscle-y guys.
