First-Place FC Dallas Hosts the San Jose Earthquakes
|First-Place FC Dallas hosts the San Jose Earthquakes, (12-3-6, 42 points), San Jose Earthquakes (2-12-7, 13 points) on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Toyota Stadium in a match presented by MoneyGram. This is the first of two meetings between these clubs in 2018. The two teams meet again in San Jose on Wednesday, August 29.
A New Era Begins on Saturday and marks an important day in FC Dallas history as the south end of Toyota Stadium reopens for the remainder of the season. The section went under construction in 2015 to begin building the National Soccer Hall of Fame. On August 4, the Hall of Fame club seat section, Open Cup Club and Interview Room will be in use and will remain open for the remainder of the season. Both teams will also use the brand new locker rooms for the first time in Toyota Stadium’s history. The National Soccer Hall of Fame itself will open for business on October 24, 2018. The National Soccer Hall of Fame Weekend presented by Budweiser on October 20-21, 2018 will feature the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Imagine Dragons concert on Saturday October 20 followed by the Hall of Fame Game between FC Dallas and Sporting Kansas City on October 21.

Since beating Atlanta United 3-2 on July 4, FC Dallas has been in first place in MLS’ Western Conference. Dallas has a six point lead over second-place LAFC and is currently unbeaten in its last three matches. FCD is one of four MLS teams with an unbeaten home record in 2018.
Going for 100
FC Dallas head coach Oscar Pareja’s next victory will be his 100th as an MLS head coach. He had 25 MLS career wins as the head coach of the Colorado Rapids in 2012 and 2013. He currently has 74 career wins as Dallas’ head coach since assuming the role in 2014. When he reaches the mark, Pareja will become the third fastest coach to reach 100 MLS victories and just the ninth to hit the century mark.

FC Dallas is 8-0-0 in matches decided by one goal. FCD is the only MLS team with a perfect record in games decided by one goal. Dallas lost 3-2 to Sporting Kansas in a U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match on June 16, 2018.
