Five Stars Return to LA Galaxy Primary

LOS ANGELES (Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019) – LA Galaxy’s primary and secondary jerseys in 2019 will feature five stars above the club’s logo, representing the club’s record five MLS Cup Championships won in 2002, 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2014. Two silver stars will sit on each side of one gold star, centered above the crest.

“The LA Galaxy are MLS’ most successful club,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “Each star represents an incredible journey in our club’s history. They represent a series of accomplishments that no other Major League Soccer team has replicated. Our jersey will showcase what we’ve achieved on the field and in the city of Los Angeles.”
From 2016-2018, the LA Galaxy kits featured one gold star above the crest to signify the five MLS Cups. Five-star LA Galaxy jerseys are on sale now at the MLS Store and in person at the Team LA Store at Dignity Health Sports Park. Free shipping is available for all jerseys purchased before Feb. 10.

LA Galaxy’s new secondary kit, Night Navy, will be revealed at the 2019 LA Galaxy Jersey Launch Party at the NOVO Theatre at L.A. LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 17. The event is open to all LA Galaxy Season Ticket Members. More information about the event will be announced at a later date. Fans who purchased an adidas Authentic 2018 white jersey may have the complete pack of stars added to their kit for free at the 2019 Jersey Launch Party. The white jersey unveiled in 2018 will return in 2019.

 

MLS Cup 2002 | LA Galaxy 1, New England Revolution 0

After three runner-up finishes in 1996, 1999 and 2001, the LA Galaxy are back in MLS Cup for the fourth time in seven years. In front of 61,316 fans at Gillette Stadium, the Galaxy win on a sudden-death goal scored by Carlos Ruiz in the second overtime.

Three years later, the rematch is on. In the 10thedition of MLS Cup, LA Galaxy again take down New England Revolution by a score of 1-0. Super substitute Guillermo Ramirez volleyed the game-winning goal at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.

 

MLS Cup 2011 | LA Galaxy 1, Houston Dynamo 0

The stars combined to give LA Galaxy their third MLS Cup, with David Beckham and Robbie Keane assisting Landon Donovan’s game-winning goal in the 72nd minute. The Galaxy win in front of their home crowd of 30,281.

 

MLS Cup 2012 | LA Galaxy 3, Houston Dynamo 1

LA Galaxy become the third team in MLS history to win back-to-back MLS Cups, as they overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit to score three second-half goals in a 3-1 win at Dignity Health Sports Park. Omar Gonzalez, Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane all scored in the contest. The championship win was David Beckham’s last game for the LA Galaxy.

 

MLS Cup 2014 | LA Galaxy 2, New England Revolution 1

The LA Galaxy and New England Revolution meet again, in a record sixth MLS Cup held at Dignity Health Sports Park. Local star Gyasi Zardes nets the game’s first goal, with 2014 MLS MVP Robbie Keane scoring the game-winning goal in the 111thminute of extra-time. With the win, the Galaxy become the only team in the league to earn five MLS Cups.
