|NEW YORK, (Sept 22, 2023) — Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, addresses the general debate of the 78th Session of the General Assembly of the UN in New York.

Greece is among the 51 founding members of the United Nations. Greece remains dedicated to the pan-human ideals of the UN, participates actively in the proceedings of the UN and ardently supports the Organization as the repository of the international legal order.

Greece, in coordination with its EU partners, is participating in the under way process emphasizing the interconnection of the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.

Greece was last elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2005-2006 and has submitted its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2025-2026.
