New York City FC defeated the Oklahoma City Energy FC 1-0

New York City FC back to first game after long brake in preseason snd defeated the Oklahoma City Energy FC 1-0 on Friday afternoon’s game.

New York City FC Captain David Villa recovered a ball that Oklahoma City turned over and scored the lone goal for the Club in the 18th minute..

Villa almost scored his first goal in the seventh minute but rocketed a shot over the bar off a corner.

New York City FC came out strong and controlled most of the possession in the first 15 minutes.

Josh Saunders made a diving save to keep the game even in the 17th minute.

After the Villa goal, new comer Diego Martinez lifted a shot just high of the crossbar in the 32nd minute as New York City FC held on to its 1-0 lead, to close out the first half.

To open the second half, Ronald Matarrita fired a shot just over the crossbar.

In the 58th minute, Mehdi Ballouchy almost scored from just outside the box as the ball sailed above the goal.

Andoni Iraola sent a nice cross to Patrick Mullins, but Mullins’ header was denied by the Oklahoma City goalkeeper, Cody Laurendi, in the 66th minute.

In the 89th minute, Oklahoma City committed a handball in their own box after a corner kick. Mullins took the penalty for New York City FC, but was denied by Laurendi.

New York City FC collects their second preseason victory. The Club will face off next against the Montreal Impact on Feb. 17.
