did well to shield a Montreal defender to make a run inside the box before finishing from eight yards out.

McNamara then set up Harrison for a wonder goal in first-half stoppage time. McNamara switched the play to Harrison, who turned Montreal defender Ambroise Oyongo on a run inside the box before blasting the ball inside the far post for his third goal of the season. Montreal pulled a goal back on a shot from distance by Harry Shipp in the 55 th minute, but Lampard put the game away with a deflected goal five minutes from full time after receiving a pass from Villa.

New York City FC Head Coach Patrick Vieira, while on team’s performance – “I think our team’s performance was very good today and we worked really hard together. From Josh to David, we worked very hard and I was really pleased with the players off the bench who brought things to the team. I think our discipline with and without the ball was really good.”

On the team’s playing style
“Whether we’re playing at home or on the road, we don’t really change our identity. We have a distinctly clear philosophy which is to play out of the back and build up with a positive attitude. With a clear ideas and a clear philosophy, the game becomes simpler.”

On managing the game
“We knew that coming here was going to be complicated for us. We needed to manage the game in the best way possible. We knew that they had a midweek game and physically they were not going to be as intense with their pressing. We managed the opening minutes well, didn’t concede and then imposed our game.”

New York City FC Midfielder Jack Harrison, talked for scoaring goal in the press conference for the club.
“I’m just trying to play as natural as possible and the guys make it so easy making me feel so comfortable right away. The game was at an important time right at the end of the half. It was important to get that going in order to give us that leeway going into the second half.”

On the difference between college soccer and pro soccer –
“I think the physicality and the tempo of the game has increased dramatically. Another thing is the details such as finding the right times to go forward or finding the right times to keep the ball. You have to manage the game a lot better at this level and I’m trying to do that.”

New York City FC Forward David Villa scoring consistently against Montreal “Today it was great for the team because we played against a very good team and a team fighting against us for the top of the table. It was a very important victory for us in a difficult stadium against a difficult team.” On what’s coming up next “We need to rest now because we have another tough game on Sunday against the Red Bulls. We hope to work very well during the week to be healthy on Sunday.”
