NEW YORK LIBERTY 2017 SEASON HOME OPENER PRESENTED BY KIA MOTORS

The New York Liberty announced that will officially tip off the 2017 WNBA season when it hosts the San Antonio Stars for its Home Opener presented by Kia Motors on Saturday, May 13, at Madison Square Garden at 3 PM.

The Home Opener will feature a fan giveaway with the first 5,000 fans in attendance receiving a rally towel courtesy of Kia Motors. Additionally, hip hop artist Rob Base, who released the hit single “It Takes Two” will perform during halftime on the court at The Garden.

The Liberty is coming off back-to-back 20-plus win seasons and WNBA Playoff berths. Last year, New York finished 21-13 overall, posting the best record in the Eastern Conference for the 2nd year in a row. All-Star forward Tina Charles finished the season leading the league in scoring (21.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg), becoming just the 3rd player in WNBA history to pace the league in both categories, finishing 2nd in the MVP voting. Head coach Bill Laimbeer returns for his 5th season in New York. Over the past two years, Laimbeer has guided the Liberty to a 44-24 (.647) record.

Once again this season the Liberty will hold a number of special theme nights throughout its season.

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT PRESENTED BY DELTA AIR LINES Tuesday, May 30 vs. Los Angeles Sparks at 7pm. The Liberty will celebrate Military Appreciation Night presented by Delta Air Lines, featuring a water bottle giveaway for 5,000 fans, and special ticket discounts for members of the armed service and veterans.

SCHOOL DAY PRESENTED BY NYC DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Wednesday, June 7 vs. Atlanta Dream at 11am. The Liberty will host its annual School Day game presented by the NYC Department of Education. This unique partnership provides tickets to more than 3,000 children who attend NYC public schools, and will feature a thunderstick giveaway and an anti-bullying halftime presentation from best-selling auther Aija Mayrock.

MADDIE’S BIRTHDAY PRESENTED BY FIDELIS CARE
Sunday, June 11 vs. Seattle Storm at 3pm.  Maddie’s Birthday presented by Fidelis Care is the 1st of six Sunday Family Funday games at The Garden this season. There will be a family fun zone on the concourse and other family themed activations.

PRIDE NIGHT PRESENTED BY RESORTS WORLD CASINO NYC
Friday, June 23 vs. Connecticut Sun at 7:30pm.  Once again this season Resorts World Casino NYC will present New York Liberty Pride Month, culminating with the Pride Night Game on June 23. The NoH8 Campaign will hold a photo shoot for fans in Chase Square prior to the game and singer and songwriter Crystal Waters will perform at halftime.

CAMP DAY
Wednesday, July 19 vs. Connecticut Sun at 11am. The Liberty will welcome campers to a special game against the Connecticut Sun.

GARDEN OF DREAMS NIGHT
Tuesday, August 8 vs. Indiana Fever at 7pm. One of the most special nights of the year will see kids from the Garden of Dreams Foundation attend a Liberty game at The Garden and have an opportunity to perform on the court. Always an inspirational evening with GDF kids wowing the fans in attendance.

UNITY GAME
Sunday, August 20 vs. Minnesota Lynx at 3pm. With its first-ever Unity Game, the Liberty will aim to include fans in a game aimed to unite diverse communities across New York City. The game will feature in-game programming and a pre/postgame panel discussion involving Liberty players and community leaders, which fans will be invited to attend.

BACK 2 SCHOOL NIGHT PRESENTED BY FOOT LOCKER
Sunday, August 27 vs. Chicago Sky at 3 pm. The Back 2 School night game presented by Foot Locker.

FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT PRESENTED BY CHASE
Friday, September 1 vs. San Antonio Stars at 7:30 PM

Chase will present the Liberty’s Fan Appreciation game which will include special giveaways for fans and Liberty Loyal season ticket members.
