New York Liberty lost to Minnesota Lynx

The New York Liberty lost to Minnesota Lynx.  Sugar Rodgers scored a game-high 20 points but the New York Liberty (1-1) lost to the Minnesota Lynx (2-0) 90-71 on Thursday night at The Garden.

Brittany Boyd also finished in double figures for the Liberty scoring 16 points, 14 in the 2nd half.

After trailing by as many as 11 in the 1st half, the Liberty closed to within 43-40 at the half, and regained the lead 45-43, only to see the Lynx answer with an 8-0 run to retake the lead for good. All five starters finished in double figures for Minnesota, led by Maya Moore who finished with 16 points.

New York opens a two-game West Coast road trip at Phoenix on Tuesday, May 23, at 10 PM (ET).

New York Liberty Notes:
Tina Charles finished with 6 points, she was held under double figures in scoring just once in 2016.

Sugar Rodgers scored 19 points in the first half but had just 1 point in the second half.  Rodgers was 4-of-6 from 3-point range.  Liberty guard Brittany Boyd injured her Achilles tendon in the fourth quarter and is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday

New York trailed by 3 at the half and took a 45-43 lead early in the third quarter only to see the Lynx respond with an 8-0 to take the good for good.  Minnesota has won its last two games at Madison Square Garden, New York leads the all-time series 18-17.
