New York Liberty season 2017

The New York Liberty announced today that single-game tickets for its 2017 WNBA season are now on sale. Tickets, starting at $20, can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden Box Office, online at NYLiberty.com, through the WNBA Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number 877-WNBA-TIX, all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com/NYLiberty.

The Liberty tips off the 2017 campaign at Madison Square Garden with its Home Opener presented by Kia Motors against the San Antonio Stars on Saturday, May 13, at 3 PM, and the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a rally towel, courtesy of Kia. New York will play all 17 home games at The Garden, with the Stars, defending champion Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, Washington Mystics, Chicago Sky, and Connecticut Sun each making two trips to the mecca of basketball.

Also on sale now are the New York Liberty Pick 4 or Pick 8 and Family Funday Sunday presented by Fidelis Care partial season ticket plans. The Liberty Pick Plan enables fans to target their ideal matchups and dates, receiving savings on a selection of four or eight games. The Family Funday Sunday plan includes tickets to all six of the Liberty’s Sunday afternoon games, featuring some of the most anticipated home matchups of the season, in addition to family friendly activities throughout the arena.

The Liberty will host School Day presented by NYC Department of Education against the Atlanta Dream on June 7, Maddie’s Birthday presented by Fidelis Care against the Seattle Storm on Sunday, June 11, Pride Night presented by Resorts World Casino against the Connecticut Sun on Friday, June 23, Back to School Night presented by Foot Locker against the Chicago Sky on Friday, August 27, and Fan Appreciation Night presented by Chase against San Antonio on Friday, Sept. 1. All six of New York’s Sunday afternoon games at The Garden will be Family Funday Sunday contests presented by Fidelis Care.

New York is coming off back-to-back 20-plus win seasons and WNBA Playoff berths. Tina Charles returns to lead the Liberty on the court, after submitting one of the greatest individual campaigns in WNBA history last year. In 2016 she led the league in scoring (21.5 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg), earning All-WNBA 1st Team honors while coming in 2nd in the league MVP balloting, in addition to winning an Olympic gold medal with Team USA at the Summer Olympic games in Rio.  Head Coach Bill Laimbeer opens his 5thseason on the sidelines in New York. Last year, Laimbeer became just the 7thcoach in league history to surpass 200-career victories, and since the start of the 2015 season, has guided the Liberty to a 44-24 (.647) overall record.

Once again this season, the top eight teams in the league in terms of overall record, regardless of conference affiliation, will qualify for the WNBA playoffs, with the teams with the best two records receiving a bye into the best-of-five league semifinals.

For a 2nd-straight season, New York will play one home preseason game at Columbia University’s Levien Gymnasium, hosting the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, May 7, at 3 PM. The contest is open exclusively for Liberty season ticket holders, who will be treated to an up-close and personal view of the Liberty as they put the finishing touches on preparation for the new season.
