NYCFC will go without Frank Lampard’s Sunday game

The New York City FC kicking off today, April 10th at 7:00p.m. vs. Fire, will go without Frank Lampard.

During press release on Thursday with coach Vieira, mantioned that 37-year-old midfielder has been ruled out of action again due to calf strain that flared up during preseason. It has been fifth straight match without Lampard, it’s second this season against the Chicago Fire without him.

“He’s not going to be fit for the weekend,” NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira told via Club press conference. “I think we’re a couple of days away from his comeback, so he’s not going to be fit for this weekend.”

Since started in 2015 campaign was hindered Lampard, but he scored three goals in 10 appearances.

Vieira added that while the injury to his Designated Player isn’t ideal for roster selection, the time off is just as difficult for Lampard.

“I’m feeling for him because he’s a real champion and a true champion and he’s going through a difficult period because, of course, he wants to be on the field, he wants to train, and he wants to help the team,” the coach added in big support of Lampard’s. But how the Fans feel about it..!

NYCFC home game will host Fire on Sunday 7 pm ET so far of the MLS held in fifth place  with 5 – points of the Eastern Conference.

Prior to New York City FC’s game against the Chicago Fire this Sunday, April 10, Anthony Ramos, who plays Philip Hamilton and John Laurens in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, will sing the National Anthem. After his performance, there will also be various other members of the Hamilton cast in attendance.
