NYFW kickoff Thursday Sept 10th
New York Fashion Week is the best event, showing clothing and fashion exhibitions with the semi-annual shows. This fall will feature S/S2016 collections. It was launched by Eleanor Lambert in 1943.
This Thursday will kickoff on Sept. 10, but weather is going to change with storms invade the region after days of sizzling heat. According to weather sources the storm is capable of producing localized flash flooding may bring hazards for those traveling to different venues on the first official day of the event.
However, desire iconic designers will show up this season at the NYFW, including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Monique Lhuillier, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors, Francesca Liberatore, Zang Toi and many more new designers like FTL Moda and Art Hearts. Official shows will take place at the Skylight at Moynihan Station and the Skylight at Clarkson Square, two new locations for this year’s event.
Eleanor Lambert was a press director of the American fashion industry’s first promotional organization, the New York Dress Institute, she believed for freelancers photographers and fashion lovers to be part of the New York Fashion Week.
During the World War II, it was created the first fashion week in France, called “Press Week.” When fashion industry insiders were unable to travel to Paris to see French fashion shows. It was also meant to showcase American designers. Press Week made huge success, and later American investors made own Fashion Week presented by Vogue in New York City by the mid-1950’s. The even was known “Press Week of New York” Spring in February 1951, was the 16th Annual Press Week of New York.
In 1993 CFDA, since the critical age, the big man led by Fern Mallis, consolidated the citywide events known as “New York Fashion Week” by staging them in a cluster of white tent sand showed in the Bryant Park, the event was branded with the trademark “7th on Sixth.” During 2001, was sold to IMG.
Mercedes-Benz became title sponsor of the IMG-produced events, adding New York to its roster of international “Mercedes-Benz fashion weeks,” and dubbing it “MB Fashion Week New York” held at Bryant Park till 2010.
Relocation from Bryant Park to Lincoln Center, the last show was on February,2015. As the IMG sold out the partnership to William Morris Endeavor and Silver Lake Partners for $2.3 billion. As of February the NYFW got rid of the Mercedes-Benz, due March, 2015 announced that acquired MADE Fashion Week, which takes place during WME and there will be held in a list of citywide fashion events beyond of the New York City.
