Oniel Fisher to Undergo Knee Surgery

D.C. United have announced today tuat defender Oniel Fisher will undergo right knee surgery for a partially torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Medial Collateral Ligament.  He is expected to miss the remainder of the 2018 MLS Season.

The Black-and-Red acquired Fisher from the Seattle Sounders on Feb. 7, 2018 in exchange for $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM).  This season, Fisher has scored one goal and recorded an assist in 24 appearances (20 starts) for D.C. United.

INTERNATIONAL: Fisher has 14 caps for the Jamaican Men’s National Team and he made his debut for the Reggae Boyz when he came on as a substitute in the 3-1 win against Trinidad and Tobago on Aug. 10, 2010 in an international friendly. In 2017, Fisher started in four of Jamaica’s six games in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup including a 90 minute performance in the 2-1 loss to the U.S. Men’s National Team in the final. He joins Jamaican teammate and new Black-and-Red signing, Darren Mattocks.
