Politics on stage

A two-hour long debate between 10 Republican presidential hopefuls in Cleveland Thursday night included some eyebrow raising moments.

One of the candidates for running president is a billionaire businessman Donald Trump. Began the presidential race’s first prime-time debate by dramatically refusing to rule out a third-party run if he’s not the GOP’s nominee was the first to grab the spotlight, saying he wouldn’t pledge to rule out an independent bid for the White House.

Gov. Chris Christie also sparred with U.S. Sen. Rand Paul over privacy and national security, an exchange that eventually prompted an eye roll from the Kentucky Republican.  He ended it showing that he can take a punch, and virtually guaranteeing that he’s not going away.

But a few of the more mild-mannered Republicans on stage will see their stock rise after Thursday night’s two-hour slugfest in Cleveland, Ohio.

Before it started, a dismissive Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz told DailyMail.com that ‘it doesn’t really much matter who the Republicans nominate because they’re all the same. They’re as interchangeable as LEGOs.’

The audience, though, saw ten candidates along a broad range of politics, intensities and likeability.  Marco Rubio may have done himself the most good, bringing reason to the immigration debate and winning over the crowd with genial not acid tongued one liners.

‘God has blessed us,’ the Florida senator said near the evening’s close. ‘He’s blessed the Republican party with some very good candidates. The Democrats can’t even find one.

And Trump is the only candidate to raise his hand, but he might run independently if not given the GOP nomination, said Mashable Gif on twitter.
