Red Bulls Draw vs. Nashville
HARRISON, N.J., (Saturday, Jun 15, 2024) — The New York Red Bulls stretched their home unbeaten streak to 11 matches with a scoreless draw vs. Nashville SC.New York and Nashville played to their third game without a goal in their last four meetings.
RBNY had three goals called back — one for a foul on the keeper, one for a handball before the goal was scored and one for offside. New York had 22 shots on the night.
“I said this to the whole team: Sometimes you don’t get the result which you deserve,” Head Coach Sandro Schwarz said. “So this was today the main point, which is not so good for us, the result, but how we play, how we defend as a team, how we create this situation was very good for me.”
Ryan Meara earned his second clean sheet of the season on the night, making one save. He’s allowed just one goal over his three starts in 2024. Meara recorded his second shutout of the season and the ninth of his MLS career.
“Ryan for me was top, top,” Schwarz said.
Sean Nealis made his 114th career MLS start for the Red Bulls, which moved him into a tie for fifth place in franchise history with Roy Miller for most MLS starts by a defender.
The Red Bulls became the second team in franchise history to go unbeaten in their first eight home matches to begin a season (2012). New York have posted 93 shutouts at home since 2010 when Red Bull Arena opened, which is the most in MLS during that timespan.
The Red Bulls remain the only Eastern Conference team this season to be unbeaten at home.
New York will head to Stade Saputo to battle CF Montreal on Wednesday, June 19.
