Ronaldo Goal for Portugal vs. Morocco

Another Spectacular goal from Ronaldo put lead Portugal againist Morocco earlier today, that eliminated a game Morocco from the World Cup, 1-0, in Moscow, Russia FIFA World Cup 2018.

Ronaldo, who had a hat trick in his opener against Spain, made it four in the fourth minute. Portugal took a tricky short corner, and Joao Moutinho quickly stepped up to send it into the box. Ronaldo was there for the header and the 1-0 lead.

For much of the rest of the game it seemed if someone would score, especially Morocco. The team, which had been unlucky to lose to Iran in its opener, played aggressive, attacking soccer but could not get a finishing touch. In particular Medhi Benatia, the captain, was there for several headers off set pieces. But they always seemed to fly too high, too wide, or at the keeper.

It was an entertaining match on both sides, as Portugal was not content to sit back, but instead looked for a second goal, perhaps from Ronaldo again. He took several free kicks, some from dangerous positions, but Goal No. 5 did not come.

In the end, Morocco had 16 shots on goal, a full 10 of them on target. Portugal had 10, with four on target. Morocco also led in corners, pass accuracy and possession.

With the loss, Morocco was mathematically eliminated from the World Cup, though it will have one more game. It was a hard ending for a team that provided fans with a lot of attacking entertainment, but no goals in two games.
