Shane Larkin Medical Update
|Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Nets today has announced at the press conference about the guard Shane Larkin has been diagnosed with a concussion, which he sustained at practice on Tuesday, December 15. He will not return to action until he is cleared to play under the NBA’s concussion protocol guidelines.
Towards the end of practice Tuesday, Shane was knocked to the floor during play. At the time, Shane only complained of upper back and neck stiffness. Tuesday night, he alerted team medical personnel that he was beginning to develop symptoms consistent with those of a concussion and was subsequently sent for an evaluation Wednesday morning. While CT scans for head and neck injuries were negative, Shane was diagnosed with a concussion. Once he is symptom free, he will enter into the NBA’s return-to-play concussion protocol. Since recovery time varies in each individual case, there is no timetable for his return.
Larkin has played in all 24 games for the Nets this season, with averages of 7.2 points and 3.6 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.
