Szetela renewed contract with Cosmos

Good news today at the press conference the New York Cosmos announced that midfielder Danny Szetela has signed a contract with the team.  The former USMINT international player he renews deal.

Szetela is 28-years-old he is native born from Clifton in New Jersey, has been a regular starter in the center for the Cosmos since joined the team in July 2013. During the past 3-years he appeared in 47 regular season with 4-goals and two-assists, and also started the 2013 NASL championship title-winning game.

Szetela has been an important player for this team from day one : ‘We are delight he will be staying on” head coach Giovanni Savarese. He has got lot of match experience and attributes that are key to  the way we play and he’s a player that keeps getting better every day.”

He started play football since 2004 at the age of 16th when signing with Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. He made 34 appearances for the team, before moving abroad to play with Racing de Santander of Spain”s La Liga and Brescia Calcio of Serie B where he played 26 games.

Danny also represent the U.S National Team at every level. He was a member of the USSF’s Brandon Academy and represented during 2003 Under-17 World Cup. In 2007 he was a key starter on the U.S U-20 national team and reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, alongside other future national team players such as Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore. He also earned men’s national team and played for the U.S at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

“Right now I really enjoy the way we train and approach each game” said Szetela. The club is like a family and love it here, and we have unfinished business here, and was easy for me to come back.”
