TAX DAY: DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AND WORKER PROTECTION REMINDS ELIGIBLE NEW YORKERS TO FILE THEIR TAXES FOR FREE

NEW YORK  — On Wednesday, March 16 starting at 2 p.m., Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga, Grand Street Settlement, Food Bank For New York City and elected officials will promote NYC Free Tax Prep with almost one month left to file until tax day, which is April 18. NYC Free Tax Prep offers free, professional tax preparation that can help families and individuals keep their full refund, including valuable tax credits like the Child Tax Credit (CTC), Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child and Dependent Care Credit (CDCC). DCWP encourages New Yorkers to file on time using NYC Free Tax Prep’s in-person and virtual services to help navigate this tax season.

Following the event, DCWP will canvass on the Lower East Side of Manhattan to bring awareness to these credits and NYC Free Tax Prep services.

Interviews are also available by request in Spanish and Chinese. More information is available at nyc.gov/taxprep.
