Times Square crowds celebrate New Year’s Eve
|NEW YORK – (December 31,2022) New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square were back at full capacity for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and thousands of people gathered to say goodbyes to 2022 and welcome in 2023.
Thousands of people braved the rain to welcome in 2023 at New York’s iconic Times Square which exploded into a spectacular light show as revelers watched the ball drop at midnight.
The magnificent lightshow was kicked off by New York City Mayor Eric Adams who had the honor of pushing the Waterford Crystal button signaling the 60 second descent of the New Year’s ball while partygoers watched on.
Ryan Seacrest came back to ring in 2023 hosting the iconic Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with co-host Liza Koshy and Jessie James Decker.
The NYPD had a myriad of security preparations to ensure this year’s celebration was fun and safe.
There were three access points to get into safety zones in Times Square and people looking to celebrate can enter from 6th and 8th Avenue at 38th Street, 49th Street, 52nd Street, and 56th Street.
The Times Square New Year’s Eve event lineup featured live performances by Chelsea Cutler, JVKE, Jax, Ava Max, J-Hope, Osmani Garcia, New Edition, Sech, and Duran Duran.
