Toronto FC has signed defender Jordan McCrary

Toronto FC II announced that the club has signed defender Jordan McCrary to a USL contract. He will be added to the roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and work permit.

“We are excited to finalize this deal with Jordan as he has earned this contract through his performances during the pre-season with both the first team and TFC II,” said Toronto FC II Head Coach Jason Bent. “This will add depth to our roster and add greater competition for places in our backline.”

McCrary, 23, most recently spent the 2016 season with the New England Revolution after they selected him with the 10th pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. He appeared in two US Open Cup matches for the Revs and was loaned to their USL affiliate the Rochester Rhinos, making one appearance for the club. He spent five seasons (medical redshirt year as a senior in 2014) at the University of North Carolina. McCrary appeared and started in 86 matches registering one goal and nine assists during his collegiate career with the Tar Heels. During his freshman year in 2011, he helped the Tar Heels to a NCAA College Cup and was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team and College Soccer News Freshman All-American selections.

McCrary has represented the U.S. national team program at the U-15, U-17, U-18, and U-20 levels.
