Toronto FC, re-signed defender Ashtone Morgan.
|Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has re-signed defender Ashtone Morgan.
“We are pleased to finalize this deal ensuring that Ashtone will remain a part of Toronto FC,” said Toronto
FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “Ashtone has spent his entire professional career with TFC after progressing through our Academy.
This is a reflection of our approach towards player development and its role on our roster in creating a consistent contender in MLS. He had a difficult year due to injury but has responded when called upon and will remain a valued member of our club heading into the 2017 season.” Morgan, 25, has spent his entire six-year career with Toronto FC. Morgan has made 123 appearances, registering 14 assists across all competitions (MLS league play, Amway Canadian Championship and CONCACAF Champions League) for TFC. Morgan signed a Homegrown contract with Toronto FC on March 17, 2011.
Morgan has earned 13 caps for the Canadian national team. He became the first graduate from the Kia
Toronto FC Academy program to earn a call-up to the Canadian national team. Morgan made his debut for Canada on October 7, 2011 in a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Saint Lucia. In addition, Morgan has represented Canada at the 2013 and 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments.
