Tyler Adams scored his first MLS goal

Tyler Adams scored his first Major League Soccer goal on Wednesday night. He added his second later in the game.

Though they weren’t his first professional goals, Adams notched his first MLS brace against D.C. United in a 3-3 draw at Red Bull Arena.

On a well-executed transition into D.C. United’s defensive third, Adams scored his first MLS goal of his career in the 19th minute to give New York an early 1-0 lead.

“Amazing, amazing, amazing. Tyler Adams, amazing,” Jesse Marsch said after the game. “Gets better every game, growing every game. What a pleasure to watch him. What a pleasure to coach him.”

Adams has represented the United States at various youth levels including the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“Big-time player, amazing, amazing,” Marsch said. “Took the team on his shoulders.”

After great score, Tyler Adams has been named No. 10 in MLS’ 2017 Edition of 24 Under 24, a series which identifies the best 24 players under the age of 24.

This is the 18-year-old Homegrown Player’s first appearance on the MLS 24 Under 24 list.

Adams has played 20 MLS games for the Red Bulls, including 19 starts. He’s played 1693 MLS minutes and tallied two goals and one assist.

The midfielder also started and played all five 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches this season, including the Open Cup Final.

A blossoming U.S. international, Adams has represented the United States at various youth levels including the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
