New York, NY (June 14, 2026)  — Fifth Avenue transformed into a sea of red, white, and blue on Sunday, June 14, 2026, as millions gathered for the 69th annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade. Marching from 44th Street to 79th Street, the iconic procession celebrated the rich heritage, artistic achievements, and global influence of the Puerto Rican community.

Woven into the historic celebration was a high-visibility security operation that highlighted the city’s updated public safety strategies. Mayor Zohran Mamdani walked the route in a casual No. 3 Josh Hart jersey, frequently breaking past his civilian cordon rope handlers and his NYPD security detail to high-five cheering crowds.

The political ranks was U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat, marching in a pink linen shirt and a black Knicks cap, alongside New York Knicks star Jose Alvarado, who joined the procession fresh off a historic NBA Championship victory the night before.

This year’s festivities officially honored the municipality of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, alongside a special dedication to the thriving Puerto Rican community of neighboring New Jersey.

Global music icon Daddy Yankee led the procession as Grand Marshal, drawing immense cheers from the dense crowds lining the avenue. Joining him at the forefront of the celebration were 1993 Miss Universe, actress, and TV host Dayanara Torres as Parade Queen, and acclaimed actor and musician Anthony Ramos as Parade King.

The event also paused to recognize foundational leaders within the community. Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to veteran U.S. Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez for her decades of public service, and to celebrated jazz musician Charlie Sepúlveda for his enduring contributions to the global arts landscape.

The hours-long celebration featured hundreds of vibrant floral floats, traditional Bomba and Plena dancers, energetic marching bands, and community organizations representing the diaspora. Broadcasted live to millions of viewers at home, the 2026 parade successfully united generations in a powerful display of Boricua pride, resilience, and joy.
