Two Atlanta United players return for training

Atlanta United will receive a welcome boost in its playoff preparations, as two players return to training on Friday in advance of the opening leg of the Eastern Conference Championship against New York Red Bulls on Nov. 25 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Atlanta coach Tata Martino told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that veteran midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, who had missed time with a muscle injury, and second-year midfielder Andrew Carleton, who was out with flu, are returning to training. Forward Brandon Vazquez, who has been unavailable of late, also returned to training Friday.

The team is still waiting on other players currently out, including Darlington Nagbe, who suffered a hamstring injury in the team’s Nov. 11 win over NYCFC, and Chris McCann, who missed the NYCFC series after getting knocked out of the team’s Decision Day match against Toronto FC. Martino indicated that both Nagbe and McCann could be available to train next week and may see action in the Conference Championship.
