Hernández, 31, is Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer and joins the LA Galaxy following time with Chivas de Guadalajara, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and most recently, Sevilla. In all, the forward has tallied over 200 goals during his career for both club and country.

On joining the MLS after an impressive career in European soccer:

“Thank you for everything that you mentioned about my career. I feel the same as usual, I feel content and happy. I’m motivated. As a human being, one can empathize with all of this, everything that this league, this country, and this club has made it happen, and gave all of that effort for me to be here. To treat me as they have, how they see me, how they perceive me, all that confidence is good. I feel the same. It’s not that I’m the exact same player. I’m 31 years old, with more experience, the father of a family. It’s the same. The truth is that I’m fully committed, happy, grateful, and moved because all of this is incredible. It’s incredible. Even if this is a league that a lot of people might not like since I went to Manchester United, they said that nothing was going to happen with me, yet here we are. So, what else can I tell you? I’m happy and pleased. I’m very anxious to put my energy towards what’s most important, that a lot of people can’t understand, that is my life. And, my life is soccer, my life is love, my life is family, my life is friendship, my life is leisure, my life is entertainment, my life is to enjoy, just like that of everyone that is here; every one that is listening and everything. With that being said, if anyone wants to see me as a soccer player on a pedestal, or in any such place, that is their responsibility. Like I’ve always told you, I’m no better or worse than anyone. I think that all of humanity is different, but we all have the same value, nothing should change that. That’s my point of view. So, I’m happy, pleased, motivated, and very anxious to play, and to hope things can be very positive.”
