Independent Panel rescinds Adams suspension
NEW YORK (May 30, 2018) – The Independent Panel, consisting of one representative from the United States Soccer Federation, one representative from the Canadian Soccer Association, and one representative from the Professional Referee Organization, has unanimously rescinded the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card issued to Chicago Fire midfielder Mo Adams for violent conduct in the 89th minute of Chicago’s match against Orlando City SC on May 26.
As a result of the Chicago Fire appeal, Adams is eligible to play in the Fire’s next regular season game on May 30 against the Philadelphia Union.
Each Club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Since Chicago’s appeal was successful, the team maintains its two unsuccessful appeals for any future dismissals in the 2018 season.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Houston Dynamo defender Alejandro Fuenmayor two games and issued an undisclosed fine for serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent during the 14th minute of the Dynamo’s match against New York City FC on May 25. Fuenmayor, who originally received a yellow card for the incident, will serve suspensions during Houston’s match on Wednesday, May 30 against Real Salt Lake and on Saturday, June 2 against the Montreal Impact.
