LIBERTY STRUGGLE IN MINNESOTA, 85-71
Minneapolis, MN – The New York Liberty briefly held a 7-6 advantage early, but a Minnesota Lynx layup gave them a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game. The Lynx (4-6) led by double figures for the entirety of the later three quarters eventually taking the contest, 81-75, Saturday night.
The Liberty (3-6) got off to a sluggish start, registering just 16 points in the first quarter. The output marked their fourth consecutive quarter with less than 20 points, dating back to their contest against the Aces.
New York had no answer for Minnesota’s dynamic duo of Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore. The two combined for 45 points on 60 percent shooting.
Minnesota managed to keep New York off the glass. The Liberty brought down just three offensive rebounds and 22 in total, matching their season-low against Indiana (6/2).
Bria Hartley had a solid all-around game for the Liberty, notching nine points to go along with six assists. It was her third game this season with six helpers.
Tina Charles finished with 12 points, her lowest output of the season.
Epiphanny Prince got her first extended action of the season after an abbreviated debut against Las Vegas. The guard finished with eight points in 14 minutes off the bench.
The loss was the second in a row for the Liberty, who have dropped four out of their last five. They will look to right the ship at home against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (ET) at the Westchester County Center.
